The Sixth Sunday after the Epiphany – “Law Condemns Us, But Jesus Saves Us” : Matthew 5:21-26

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus refuted false, legalistic interpretations of God’s law because they deceive us into persisting in the hope of saving ourselves from sin.  Instead, He let the law do its work, exposing and condemning sin, so that His hearers could repent and believe in the good news that He is their Savior.
